Your three words, my little story: Gwyn’s words

Your three words, my little story
Gwyn’s words: avarice, furtive and vacuous

John never likes going to the city, but they need the money. His wife told him, “This is the only possible job we have honey. We really need this.”

“I know sweetie. We could end up with the roof, siding, drywall and trim. It could feed us for a few months.”
The client was a nice man, but had no construction sense at all. With a client like that they will either put all their trust in you or stand over you and question everything you say or do.
This client thinks everything can be done in five minutes. So it wasn’t a surprise to see his VACUOUS AVARICE attitude toward the time and price of the bid. “I didn’t think it would take this long or cost this much.”

John explained the job, step by step, then the client realized the hard work and experience needed to finish a job of this size.

Before John could go to Sloan and deposit the check into his account, he pulled into the Hechinger’s parking lot. He sat in his truck for awhile, looking at his material list and wondering how much he owed them. A check of this size will take several days to clear. So he wouldn’t be able to pay the bill down or off, till the end of the week.

He felt a little embarrassed and FURTIVE about walking into the store. He can always go to the Sloan Hardware, but he can save hundreds if he bought the bulk of the material here.

He decided to go to his bank and prepare to start the job next week. He thought one day at a time is normally a safe approach.

Your three words, my little story: Tim’s words

Your three words, my little story
Tim’s words: chicken, beak and olive

It was Saturday morning and it wasn’t his kids that woke him, it was the rooster. It seems that the egg beater got louder and louder every week. If he had known that hens didn’t need a rooster to lay eggs, he wouldn’t have bought the noisy critter. The kids named him, The Rowdy Rooster, or he would have been gone a long time ago.

As he struggled to hop out of the bed he heard the faint sound of, The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show coming from downstairs. Next is Popeye the sailor and his girl OLIVE Oyl. This reminded him of his childhood favorites Jonny Quest and The Road Runner

As he fed the chickens he knew which CHICKEN was going to do the headless dance later that afternoon, so he tried not look at it.

For weeks he’s been listening to band called BEAK and hasn’t figured out if he likes them or not. Their music is surely upbeat, but maybe a little too electronic for him. Lately though, when it’s time to pick a chicken for dinner he plays their song, The Meader and that seems to put him in the mood for the beheading.

Your three words, my little story: Eric’s words

Your three words, my little story
Eric’s words: depth, sinner and lost

I am going to use this in another category also. How ya like my hat?

When I read these words I immediately thought of, Psalms 130:1.

Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O LORD.

Don’t worry I’m not going to get all, Holier than thou on you. Most of you know that when I am given three words, I don’t write a story in the expected direction or genre.

In this case I’ll tell you what this particular scripture and the words mean to this SINNER.

How ya like my hat? Jesus most certainly is my Boss

In the late eighties I was alone in my room kneeling on the shag carpeting, looking for little pieces of crack that might have fallen into the carpet fibers. As my gaze lifted up from the floor and into the mirror, I noticed this pale, frail, shell of a man and at that moment I saw the DEPTH of my depravity.

In that split second I knew some changes needed to be made. My head continued to rise toward the ceiling and I prayed with my eyes wide open, “Lord please help relieve me of my addictions, drinking, drugging and smoking cigarettes.”

However, there was nothing I could possibly do at that time, since I was anchored and LOST in the grips of addiction. I found out years later, that was my turning point.

God doesn’t give us more than we can handle and He answered my prayers in a manner that He knew I could understand.

A few months later I was arrested for driving on revoke license for my umpteenth time. I was sent to jail for a year and I lived there for nine months, while my mom took care of my sons.

While in jail, I began going to Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, church services and I had visits from my moms Pastor. During one of the Church Services the reading that day was Psalm 130:1 and that reminded me of the evening I asked God to help me. At that time I was four months dry in jail and I realized my prayers were answered.

I could go on and on with this topic, but I won’t bore you anymore. Not today anyway.

Your three words, my little story: Lew’s words

Your three words, my little story
Lew’s words: gravitational, doppler & entropy

The GRAVITATIONAL pull between Lew and Karen has never been stronger than it is right now. Health issues are bringing them closer and closer as each day passes.

His friend always said, “You guys will endure a slow and painful ENTROPY. Your passion will deteriorate after the lust is gone and at that time your relationship will be a mere shell of the devotion you once had.”

The friends prediction couldn’t have been further from the truth, but now there’s a new challenge in their life. Monday Lew goes in for his DOPPLER echocardiogram, his pulse is weakening and his blood pressure is not what it used to be.

The news that will follow shortly after Monday’s test can be devastating, so they decided to live for today. Not tomorrow or yesterday, because those days hold no meaning to them, it’s only now.

Your three words, my little story: Mrs. Mack’s words

Your three words, my little story
Mrs. Mack’s words: ennui, chomp & cradle

He’s been listless and bored for as long as he can remember. At first he thought he suffered from depression, but he had no way of confirming that prognosis. So he moved on to another self prescribed diagnosis, this time it was his food intake.

He went on a diet called “The Hallelujah Diet”, it consists of strictly fruits and vegetables. He read that this diet would give him a new found energy. After a month he noticed his energy level was up and he lost thirty pounds during the experience.

Now he knew the food he should eat, but he still wanted a hamburger. He thought going off the diet for a day wouldn’t hurt. So he headed to the local “Burger King” to buy a Whopper, Whopper Jr., fries and shake.

To watch him CRADLE that burger was a sight to see. It looked like he was protecting a baby. You knew he couldn’t wait to CHOMP into it.

The next day he did the same thing and in the afternoon he noticed he was right back in the same ENNUI, fatigued state from a month ago.

To attain your new desire, you must give up an old one.
