Interesting: Calling all cooks, pinto beans
I have two bags of pinto beans, a shank ham bone and some ham fat. I want to slow cook them.
Looking for: what food to add, what spices to add, temperature and times on the different temperatures.
I can probably cut chunks of ham and put them in there too. What do you guys think?

These beans are two years old, does that make a difference?
Sounds good Ginene

This is a late reply, Jim, but I simmer my ham and pea soup until the vegetables and the beans are dissolved so it is velvety. I’d say 8 hours in crock pot on low.

I agree with your thought process. I’m going to try and keep your specialties out of my frig, but that’s going to be hard to do. I love bread and who don’t like desserts.
