Mom on the left, dad then my sister Debbie. This was at the end of my dad’s life.

Past

Dad was disking the field one afternoon, when I was relaying a message from mom. It was a normal occurrence to step on the draw bar while the tractor was in use.

The bottom curved bar is a draw bar. It’s used to attach different impliments to a tractor

I guess, I wasn’t on my game that day, because for some reason, I put my left leg on the left rear tire. The tire then pulled me forward, till I was hopping on the ground. When my left leg hit the ground my right leg was pulled between the tire and the tractor.

This isn’t an Allis Chambers, but you can get an idea where my leg was caught.

Dad was able to stop quickly because he was dragging the disk. When it stopped I was able to pull my leg out.

This is similar to the disk we had.

Nothing was broken, but there was a sizeable gash above my right knee. So dad took me to Malcom Grow Hospital at Andrews Air Force Base, which was about twenty minutes away in the late sixties.

I didn’t cry, but I sure felt stupid. It didn’t appear that bad to me and it didn’t hurt. Staying over night in the hospital was cool, again I was the center of attention. Mom picked me up the next day and we went for ice cream and a lecture.

I had a nice story for school though, which just happened to be called Malcom Elementary. I never realized the same names till writing it down just now.

Present

Gwyn Dooley and I, you know Gwyn as a guest blogger, started on the Atkins Diet last Monday. I’ve done this diet before and lost ninety seven pounds in seven months After three days, I was in Ketosis and my energy level was high. It’s also good for my type two Diabetes.

On payday I went shopping for no carb foods and I also bought some foods with no carbs but had sweetener’s in it, that are not supposed to be used in this diet. Those sweeteners produce spikes of sugar and can cause me to go over the twenty carbs a day. Today I start all over.

Plans

I will continue on the diet, but with a different agenda this time. Keeping my blood sugar down is the main reason. Secondly, I want to lose the access weight and thirdly I need more energy.

The waterfront lot with the camper fell through. However, the lot is still in play. I’m looking into selling my house boat and buying the lot, then moving my thirty four foot camper on it. I think I mentioned part of this in a earlier post.

Remove the trailer and the lot might be mine soon.

Your three words, my little story: Ernie’s words

Your three words, my little story
Ernie’s words: Liz, life and unfair

He was standing in the road next to his car yelling, “It makes no sense, none at all! LIFE is so UNFAIR!” Then he locked his car and started walking to town. How could he possibly forget to buy gas?

He figured the gas station was seven miles away. So if he got gas later and walked straight to the restaurant he would be two hours late from ordering his meal. The only way he can make it on time, is if someone picked him up.

~~~~~
He was supposed to meet LIZ a half an hour ago and then meet her parents for the first time in ten minutes. He knows she’s worried about him, but there’s nothing he could do about it.
He just passed Lost River when he heard a vehicle behind him. Maybe he can still meet her parents for dinner if this car picked him up. It just happened to be a friend of his, so he knew he would only be a few minutes late.
How ya like my hat? Tennessee hat
How ya like my hat? Tennessee hat
This and the next two pictures were taken today, November 3, 2016. I’m going to keep this one.
I think I’ve told you guys I’m from the DMV, (District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia). I was born in Virginia, worked many years in DC and lived most of my life in Maryland.
Dad’s family is from Sulfur Springs, Texas. In my childhood I visited there only twice. It took me and dad twenty two hours of non stop driving, to arrive at the family house in 1972. It’s half way across the country and we didn’t have the cash or time for many lengthy stays.
Mom’s family is from Mountain City, Tennessee. It only took eight hours to get there, now with better roads I can make it in six and a half.
Dad probably went to Mountain City only a half a dozen times, so normally mom took us. Our stays typically lasted two weeks and that was every summer. Needless to say, I became very attached to Mountain City.
I have a whole mess of family buried down there, but still have at least six first cousins and their off springs living there.
Raymond and I stopped at a small roadside flea market just outside of Marble, North Carolina and I came across three hats with the Tennessee Volunteer colors and the big “T” on them. I paid a dollar apiece for each of these hats. I posted the fourth hat on Facebook four years ago, now it’s on WordPress.
I’m going to keep the first one, so if any of my cousins wants one of the other two let me know.
No Shave November
Me on my houseboat, in October of 2016
I never have been one who shaves on a regular basis, so when No Shave November came along, it was right up my alley.
I didn’t take this picture, I swiped it from the internet
There are several reasons for letting your facial hair grow. The first one’s simple, maybe you want to keep your face warm during the upcoming winter. Next, you might be moving to the mountains and you want to fit in with the Grizzly Bears. Or, how about you’re becoming a hillbilly, but not the Beverly Hillbillies, because you have no oil. Of course we can’t forget the fact that you might not belong to the Dollar Shave Club, It’s got to be cheaper than Wal-Mart.
This picture is about five years old and has nothing to do with the post. I just like it
I promote No Shave November, because it’s a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing attention to men’s health. The money raised goes to cancer prevention, research and education.
We were heading up the mointsins a month ago to find that Grizzly Bear
Prostate, testicular, colorectal, and skin cancers are just a few that I might succumb to. It’s something that I can earnestly get behind, because I’ve already had skin cancer and have an enlarged prostate.
This means I will not shave in November.
How ya like my hat?: Little hat.
How ya like my hat?: Little hat.
Raymond and I, were at a thrift store in North Carolina a few years ago, where I found twenty or so hats for cheap.
I was trying some of them on, when one of the salesman walked up to me and asked, “What kind of hat are you looking for?”
I told him, “I have this bit on Facebook called, How ya like my hat? I often look for Washington Redskin hats, but sometimes I come across one that say’s, Write about me.”
He picked up this little one and asked, “What does this one say to you?”
“It says, I have a big head.”
“Well it doesn’t fit very good that’s for sure.” We both laughed at his little joke. “But it’s funny looking. Think of the story you can write!”
Afterwards I took the hat up to the cash register, but had no idea what kind of story I was going to tell you. As I was walking away from the counter, I heard him tell the girl who took my money, “Did you see the stupid little hat I sold to that Redskin fan? I told you I could sell it.”
She said, “If he only knew you were a Dallas Cowboy fan.”
Just messin about the guy talking me into buying it. I saw it and bought it for three dollars, just so I can show it to you.
