Your three words, my little story

Jamie’s words: Sushi, button and headstrong

Jamie and his daughter were heading into a three story building in downtown Wilson yesterday, when they saw something that gave them both a little pleasure. It was the revolving and it didn’t but a second till she ran into it. Seems like she went around a dozen times, while Jamie looked on smiling. He thought, she’s got to get tired sooner or later.

Little Susie was such an average two year old, she had the greatest smile, that I’m sure she got from her pop pop. Of course she was full of energy, just like most two year olds.

Finally out of the door through the foyer and in the elevator Susie asked, “can I push it daddy?”

    “Of course you can.”

    “Which BUTTON daddy?”

Pointing he said, “this one honey.”

She tried and tried to push it, but she was just too short. Only an inch more and she could reach it. “Here let me Susie.”

“No I can do it.” She started jumping around and just happened to step on daddy’s foot, as she was standing on his feet she realised that was the inch she needed. So she pushed it and turned to daddy with the biggest grin. Jamie thought she never would have been able to do it, if she wasn’t so HEADSTRONG.

Leaving town, they picked up momma and went to their favorite fishing hole. Susie and momma weren’t much on fishing, but this was one of Jamie’s favorite things to do.  Fishing with his family made the experience even better.

The girls didn’t fish, but Jamie did and he started pulling them in left and right. Literally didn’t matter which side he cast to, he pulled in a fish. Momma said, “you want to take them home or start a fire here and a cook a couple here or do you want to eat one raw, so you can have your daily SUSHI fix?”

Cherie’s words: Rabbit, train and lego

It was huge, must have been a foot and a half tall, a foot wide and four feet long. You could tell the kid has been collecting for years, the normal colours, but some of the LEGO sizes were different. Eventhough Cherie didn’t know what it was, there was a certain mystique to the form. She asked the nine year old Joey, “what is it?”

He said, “it’s a spaceship and it goes deep into space, where no man had gone before.”

It was almost time for Joey’s dad to get home from work, meaning his two evening chores were to be finish in the next half hour. The chores were feeding the animals and watering the plants. Inside of the rambler were four plants, a dog and a cat. Outside were a lot of plants, but only two rows that needed watering and they were along the front fence line. His favorite evening chore was feeding his RABBIT. He called her Frisky, because of her whiskers. After he played with Frisky for awhile he knew his dad was soon to be off the TRAIN and almost home.

This was Joey’s favorite time of the day, daddy’s home. Every day Monday through Friday they met in the front yard. Joey would throw his dad the big glove, then jump into his arms and yell, “I love you daddy.”

“Love you too son, now lets play some catch.”

Michelle’s words: motherhood, beach and horse

It was a beautiful day to lay out on the BEACH and do nothing. Do absolutely nothing was the plan, because lately most days were complicated for Michelle in some fashion or another. She brought a bucket of chicken from KFC, along with some baked beans and some potato salad, that she made herself.  On the way there she stopped off at the conveyance store for some gas, chips, sodas and something special for her son. He really liked chocolate, but she didn’t want him to eat much of it anymore. She hid that little gem away for the time being.

Finally on the beach she quickly set up, so she could lay out under the umbrella. After eating she propped her head up on her lounge chair, which proved to be much too comfortable. Laying there watching the waves and her son play with the sand was exactly what the doctor order. Feeling very relaxed she thought she would check her eye lids for leaks and just listen to the waves. Well, you know what happened next. Yep, it wasn’t long before she was in a deep sleep and dreaming about her pasture. She enjoyed walking through it and especially riding her HORSE. She would often jokingly say, “I love my horse more than my husband.” Of course that wasn’t true, but that was an inside joke between them.

All of a sudden she was awakened by her son’s screaming. They met in the sand between themselves.

She said, “what’s wrong?”

He was pointing at his foot then said, “look something bit me.”

“Oh honey, that’s from a jelly fish. It will be fine shortly.” as she picked him up and carried him over to his blanket and toys, she thought ahhhh chocolate. She set him down and said, “here honey.” She was enjoying her dream, but she enjoyed him more. She thought now that’s MOTHERHOOD.

Misty’s words: Beetle, toe and skirt

Joe had a date for Saturday at noon with his new friend Misty and he couldn’t wait for the picnic. Joe’s normally a very shy young man, but something about her turned his crank. It could have been those big brown eyes, he felt lost the moment he looked in them. Could be that big beautiful smile, that surely would lighten anyone’s day. However, he couldn’t stop thinking about her mini SKIRT. He was smitten and talking to her was much harder than he expected. He started to say, “hello,” but he got choked up and just whispered it.

She did hear him and said, “hello to you too.”

He stuttered and said, “my name is Joe. What’s yours?”

    “Misty.”

At this moment he was lost for words, because he normally didn’t get this far. He turned from her trying to save face, while thinking for the words to ask her out. He turned to fast and stumped his sandal clad TOE. He wanted to yell, cuss and hop around, but what he said was, “ouch.”

“Looks like that would hurt.” she said with a sly smile. As it turned out this gave them something to talk about and before long they made the date.

They were sitting on the quilt his grandmother made for his mom, when a Beetle flew into his mouth. He started gagging and trying to spit it out, when Misty asked, “what happened?”

“I don’t know for sure, but I think a June bug just flew into my mouth.”

    “What?”

“I just ate some kind of bug.”

“Why didn’t you wait for the chicken and potato salad?”

Joe said, “I was really hungry and couldn’t wait I guess.”

“Let me fix you a plate and get on with our date.”

    “Ok”

Your Three Words, My Little Story

Carol’s words: Teddy bear, Shrimp and Snow

A couple of years ago, I was trampling around in the hills of the Colorado Mountains. The scenery was great, with all the trees and brush around, at times it was hard to see the bright blue sky. The smell of freshness in the air is not something I was use to smelling in the city. That’s what prompted the newly found desire to walk, and I can use the exercise.

Not being an avid hiker, it wasn’t long before I had to sit and rest. So I found a fallen tree, brushed the snow off and sat for awhile. I was thinking of lunch, when I heard some crackling coming from the wooded floor behind me. It wasn’t like I could turn around fast with all the close on, so I was forced to turn slowly. What I saw was enough to make me wish, I brought a second pair of underwear. It was a bear, oh BTW a bear does shit in the woods, because that’s what it was doing. No I’m not talking about a teddy bear, this was a for real four legged Yogi Bear. For some reason he didn’t see me or didn’t care, because he sauntered off down the mountain.

I sat there for awhile scared to move. I’m not shitten ya, I was afraid to move. Well I started to get hungry and I had left my lunch on the kitchen counter at home. It’s probably no good by now anyway, it was the last of my shrimp salad and it wonct last long in the heat. I figured if I brought it with me, it would have been fine in this cold, that was surrounding me. I finally got up and instead of finishing my walk I turned around and headed home. If I had continued my walk as planned I would have been following the bear. Not a good idea.
